“Shramik Sampark Abhiyan” campaign

15 Jul, 2025

As part of the ongoing “Shramik Sampark Abhiyan” campaign launched by the West Bengal Pradesh Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress (KKC), a significant discussion meeting was organized 15th July 2025 in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas, focusing on the critical issues faced by contractual workers employed under the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).

This impactful session was aimed at bringing to light the various forms of exploitation, negligence, and deprivation that thousands of LIC contract workers endure on a daily basis — despite being employed by one of India's most trusted public sector institutions.

The meeting saw active participation from LIC contract workers, KKC district and state-level leaders, legal experts, and labour rights activists. The workers openly shared their experiences of working for years without job security, facing wage disparities, lack of health and social security benefits, and being denied basic rights enjoyed by permanent employees.
