On the auspicious occasion of Shri Rahul Gandhi ji’s birthday, the West Bengal unit of the Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress (KKC) celebrated the day with gig workers, delivery partners, and platform-based employees in the heart of Kolkata. The celebration was not merely ceremonial, but deeply symbolic of Rahul Gandhi ji’s enduring connection with India’s working class and his vision for a just, inclusive, and equitable society.
Organised under the leadership of KKC West Bengal, the event brought together workers from Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Uber, Ola, and other gig platforms — who are today among the most under-recognized yet essential pillars of the urban economy. From navigating traffic, harsh weather, long working hours, and low earnings, these workers face challenges that mainstream policies often overlook.
